Lou

The representative for Germany this year is Lou. The 39 years old Lou Hoffner has been discovered in a beer-tent by the nowadays very well known composer Ralph Siegel - Lou has lost her driver's licence a few days ago. (we don't know if there is any coherence). She is on stage for almost 15 years now and is touring all over Germany with her partyband. In the year 2001 she came third in the German pre-decision with a quite similar song and title "Happy Birthday Party". This year she's got luck and could win with her fire-red hair.

But the format of the German pre-decision is very much discussed in the last weeks. Other countries like Spain, Portugal and Ireland send their "superstar" to the international final. In Germany's "Germany is looking for a superstar" there was much more furore as in the traditional pre-decision. It is quite possible that Germany is changing its system. This year the pre-decision only had 5.6 million spectators - 50% less than in the year before. The atmosphere in the hall wasn't at all as nice as in the "Germany is looking for the Superstar" show.

Questionable is the repeated participation of Ralph Siegel, because he announced to everyone that this will definitely be his last attempt in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Unfathomable is the win of Lou, how she could trump Senait, Isgaard and the Boy with the Guitar, they were all subsided by the media, and beside of that showed a better stage performance. We will see if Ralph Siegels concept will succeed.
