Like last year there has been a national final in Moldova. The Moldovan broadcaster TRM has hosted a high quality show. The winner of the night was one of the most recognized singers of Moldova Cristina Scarlat, with which she will represent Moldova at the 59th Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen.
Cristina was born in 1981 in a family where music traditions have been of a high importance. Cristina studied the violin and the piano and graduated at the Moldovan music conservatory. She appeared in several festivals also as a lead singer in the Presidential orchestra. She has been declared as one of the most powerful voices of Moldova. Due to the fact that she has two children she is combining family and career in a healthy balance. Cristiana’s biggest dream was to represent Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest. She already had an attempt in 2013 where she reached the second place.
The song “Wild Soul” is a strong pop song with a great rhythm and Cristina’s voice is utilized to the best result. The really good made video clip can only be a first snapshot of what we can expect from the stage performance in Copenhagen. This might be one of the strongest songs from Moldavia for years. Due to the fact that Moldova almost always make it into the Grand Final this entry will have the less hurdles to take.
Biggest success:1x 6th place 2005 “Boonika Bate Toba” by Zdob si Zdub, 1x 10th place
Moldova takes part in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2005 and this year it will be 10th anniversary year! Congratulations! The debut song “Boonika Bate Toba” by Zdob si Zdub has made the best place in the ESC history for Moldova – the 6th place! From that great start Moldova made it mostly in into the grand final, only one year in 2008 they did not make it. Moldova benefits greatly from the neighbour countries votes. Often the singers are also well known in the countries around Moldova. The most outstanding songs were: “Fight” by Natalia Barbu in 2007 (10th), “Hora Din Moldova” by Nelly Ciobanu in 2009 (14th) and “So Lucky” by Zdob si Zdub again in 2011 (12th).
