Participant(s): Petr Elfimov Song: Eyes That Never Lie Writer(s): Valery Prokhozhy Composer(s): Petr Elfimov
Belarus is one country in the Eurovision Song Contest which did not profit from the “Eastern voting” so far. Maybe it’s due to the fact that many people can’t associate music from Belarus. Not many singers from this country are known outside Belarus, too. In former years even Russian singers were chosen to represent the Belorussian entry.
This year Petr Elfimov tries to get a better place than in recent years, he has already been on Eurovision stage in Istanbul in 2004 as a background singer. Beside of Koldun in 2007 Belarus did not shape up very well. And there is nothing new in 2009. An ordinary eastern rock song, sung by a insignificant singer is not the recipe to win the Eurovision. You must listen to this song a couple of times to get used to it. A new version has been made with more orchestral sound. Maybe this song is useful for fast car rides.
