Participant: Sergio & the Ladies Song: Sister Writer(s): Dirk Paelinck Composer(s): Marc Paelinck
Belgium has been number one at Eurovision only once - 1986 sang Sandra Kim "J'aime la vie" (I love life). The success of the Belgian entries at Eurovision has been not the best over the years. Belgium varies in the language every time they take part - Flemish or French.
This year there is a superstar representing Belgium: Sergio & the Ladies. He is named "Mr. Entertainment" in his country, because of his TV presence with his own shows. He is singing, too - the records have been a great success. One of Sergio's unfullfilled dreams was to represent Belgium at the Grand Prix.
"Sister" is the name of Sergio's song, with which he would like to be on one of the top positions. The song is a rock & soul number, in the style of songs from Tom Jones or Joe Cocker. In the Belgian predecision Sergio won easily with a huge lead. On Saturday he should let the Europeans jump off their sofas and start dancing when listening to Sergio's song. If Sergio is going to be successfully, or if this song may be a little bit too rocky - let's get surprised.
By the way - the Dutch background singers are superb and will give their best...
