For the first time since 2009 Germany will have no national final. After the bad results in the previous years (beside of 2018) where the German representatives always have been chosen by juries and public votes, it was a logic procedure to do it so. The announcement of the broadcaster NDR that there won’t be a national final this year has caused a lot of agitation in the social media. Other countries could achieve several successes with internal choices, even last year’s singer Duncan Laurence from the Netherlands.

It seems that the German fans are feeling insulted and ignored. Therefore the organizers have produced some funny video clips (German only) with the explanation, how the German act has been chosen. There were hundreds of songs and an internal jury decided together with a lot of experts to find the right song to shape up better this year.

There are lot of rumours who might be the singer. All the speculations will come to an end this Thursday as there will be a 45 minutes TV show to present the German entry. Unfortunately, this show will not be broadcasted on the prime channel ARD, instead on the niche channel ONE at 21.45 CET.
