Very early this morning the Swedish broadcaster SVT has made its decision of the running order of the countries in the Grand Final. This decision is nowadays determined by the host broadcaster, unlike former years where the starting positions have been drawn.
Belgium is going to open the 2016 Eurovision Grand Final this year. This is a fresh and happy opener, which is being followed by the newcomer Czech Republic, it is the first time in ESC history that Czech Republic is being in the Grand Final. The host country Sweden has been drawn some weeks ago at #9, now it’s surrounded by Bulgaria and Germany. The big favourite France is coming after that directly. And Australia is on the lucky – unlucky #13. The most successful starting positions #16 and #17 haven allocated to Lithuania and Croatia and Russia is #18. Ukraine as one as the hot favourites is #21th and it will be all closed by Armenia on #26.
Good to see that there are all strong entries this year. At the end a winning song could win on any starting position, but there is a certain trend that songs in the last third party do have the best chances, as people may come home late and tune in later.
This is the running order 2016:
01. Belgium 02. Czech Republic 03. Netherlands 04. Azerbaijan 05. Hungary 06. Italy 07. Israel 08. Bulgaria 09. Sweden 10. Germany 11. France 12. Poland 13. Australia 14. Cyprus 15. Serbia 16. Lithuania 17. Croatia 18. Russia 19. Spain 20. Latvia 21. Ukraine 22. Malta 23. Georgia 24. Austria 25. United Kingdom 26. Armenia

My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
