The biggest surprise tonight is that the famous ex-Westlife singer Nicky Byrne from Ireland did not pass the semi-final. Maybe his song has not been convincing enough for the juries and televoters. Another surprise is that Denmark and Norway did not make it either. On Tuesday Iceland and Finland also did not come further, this means that Sweden is the only Scandinavian country in the Grand Final from Sweden.
For the first time in ESC history Australia had to go through the qualification process and they passed it easily. That will motivate all people in Australia and will definitely be one of the hot favourites on Saturday, as well as Bulgaria and Ukraine.
The following countries did not make it into the Grand Final: Switzerland, Belarus, Ireland, Slovenia, Denmark, Norway and Albania.
The running order of the Grand Final will be communicated in the early morning.

About me: As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
