In the Estonian national final “Eesti Laul 2016”, which has been aired from the famous Saku Suurhall, where the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest took place, there has been one winner chosen: Jüri Pootsmann with the song “Play”. The Estonian broadcaster ETV (ERR) has made a big show in the former ESC venue to determine the Estonian entry for Stockholm 2016. All ten songs of the night have been shining and have been improved as much as possible.
In the interval act there was a special act: the 1996 representatives Ivo Linna and Maarja-Liis Ilus presented their ESC entry “Kaelakee Hääl” another time. The audience in the arena was fascinated and illuminated the entire place with their mobile phones. This was a very special moment.
In a very tight race, Jüri Poostmann could not even convince the independent jury members, but also the Estonian public. The solid funk song is going to be the Estonian entry for Stockholm. Congratulations Estonia!

About me: As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
