The Finnish national final UMK is having a surprise winner. Sandhja could mainly convince the juries with her song “Sing It Away”. The other half of the votes came from the televoting. But the Finnish audience wanted to Saara Aalto or Mikael Saari to win. Sandhja came third from the televoting results, but due to the high votes of the different juries her leading position could not be reached by anybody else. At the end, Sandhja could win with a margin of 6 points. So this year’s UMK winner is a kind of surprise winner. “Sing It Away” is a pop song with a strong disco rhythm.
The UMK show was packed with a lot of excitement in every way. There was a great stage, very nice hosts and a range of very good songs, maybe one of the best Finnish finals for years. There were some strong candidates with winning potential among the finalists.
