This weekend is the second mega Eurovision weekend. At the end of the week we will know four more songs for Stockholm, because there are four national finals: Austria on Friday, Denmark, Switzerland and Italy on Saturday. Furthermore there will be several semi-finals: Iceland, Ukraine, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Finland and Hungary.
The second semi-final in the Söngvaekeppnin will have six participants. The most known singer will be Pálmi Gunnarsson, who has been presenting the very first Icelandic entry “Gledinbankinn” with the group Icy in 1986. There will be three qualifiers for the final which will take place the week after. It’s going to be a special celebration as it’s the 30th anniversary of Iceland in the ESC and Loreen and Sanrda Kim will be special guests.

The second semi-final in the Swedish Melodifestivalen will come to you from Malmö, where the ESC 2013 took place. Interesting to see that in that year Finland was represented by Krista Siegfrieds, who is now going to compete for Sweden. Other well known singers are Tommy Nilsson (“En Dag” Sweden 1989, 4th place) and David Lindgren, who has entered the Melodifestivalen twice and reached the final.

The show to determine the Estonian entry for Eurovision is called “Eesti Laul”. This will be the first heat with 10 entries. There will be two semi-finals and each 5 entries will qualify for the final show in two weeks time. The Eesti Laul show is always known for ultra modern and extravagant entries a lot of electronic music. This shows the creativity and enthusiasm of the Estonians towards Eurovision.
The second semi-final in the UMK show in Finland consist of six entries. Judged by the first heat, the show is of a very high quality concerning the quality of the songs and technics. With a lot of enthusiasm the Finnish broadcaster YLE will show off another time. Mikael Saari has already made a 2nd place last year in the UMK’s final. The big favourite is the duet Annica & Kimmo with “Good Enough”.
After three heats with 40 entries in the Hungarian Dal show there will be two semi-finals: one this Saturday and another next week with 9 songs each. This show concept exits since five years and has proofed a very successful, as Hungarian entries have reached the Grand Final in the ESC prosperously.
This is the second semi-final of the Latvian Supernova show to determine the Latvian representative for Stockholm 2016. This show concept has proofed as successful. The lovely singer Aminata could convince not only the Latvians, but also the Europeans with the extraordinary song “Love Injected” and made a 6th place in the ESC final.
This is probably the longest running Eurovision pre-selection show at all. This weekend we will have the sixth show. The most known singer is Donny Montell, who has represented Lithuania with “Love Is Blind” in Baku 2012 and made a 14th place.
