The order of the Grand Final will be decided after the press conference after the Semi Final 2. The producing team of the ORF will decide in alignment with the EBU reference group, which country will be allocated at with starting position. The only thing the contestants will be drawing during the winner’s press conference (Semi Final 2) is the part they will be in the Grand Final which is either the first or second part. Likewise the second part is the mighty best option and the favorited one by the artists, as most of the ESC winners had their starting position in the second half. This has several reasons, TV viewers turn in later and some people have forgotten the songs from the first half.
Nowadays it’s not that important anymore, as the juries will judge all songs, no matter which starting position an entry has. There have always been winners from the first part, remember Sertab Enerer with “Everyway That I can” on #4 and “Diggi-Loo-Diggi-Ley” by the Herrey’s in 1984.
The Big 5 countries and Australia had to draw their position as well today, while the host country Austria has already been drawn on #14 some weeks ago.
First half: Armenia, Australia, Belgium, Estonia, France, Serbia and United Kingdom
Second half: Austria, Albania, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Russia and Spain
Chief Editor of eurovisionlive.com
About me: Due to the fact that my parents are musicians, I have a gained a great enthusiasm for music. Since 1979 my interest in the Eurovision Song Contest has grown enormously. My first ESC I joined was in Dublin 1995. Six years later I founded the website eurovisionlive.com in the year 2001. The most fascinating part for me is the original idea of the Eurovision Song Contest – the peaceful contest of the European countries. I am very happy that I have the chance to contribute my little part for the greatest music show in the world.
