In the today’s Eurovision event the semi final allocations have been drawn in the City Hallo of Vienna. Kati Bellowitsch and Andi Knoll have conducted the draw to determine which country will participate in which semi final and if it’s in the first or second half.
Furthermore the voting rights of the Big 5 countries and Austria have been drawn as well. Austria, France and Spain will vote in the Semi Final 1 on May 19th, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom will vote on the 21st May.
The running order has not been determined yet; this will be done by the host broadcaster and the EBU reference group.

Interesting to see is that some neighbour countries, which are likely to vote for each other are in the same semi final such as Norway and Sweden, Estonia and Finland, Belgium and the Netherlands, Romania and Moldova. In the beginning there were 5 pots with countries which mostly like to vote for each other to avoid an unfair voting to make it as fair as possible.
This draw seems to be a good and fair one, which offers every participating country equal chances. What we can learn from the past is that if there is a very good song, it will win anywhere, no matter in which part of which semi final it has been allocated to.
