In almost every European country there are fan clubs of the Eurovision Song Contest called OGAE. And every year the fan clubs do their own voting, judged by the video clips. The voting procedure is the same as in the real Eurovision from 1 – 12 points. Beside the participating countries also other country’s fan clubs are able to vote like Andorra, Bulgaria, Turkey, etc. and the “Rest of the World” to include countries like South Africa, Australia and others.
Sanna Nielsen from Sweden is the clear favourite this year, followed by Hungary and Israel. Of course the fan clubs know the songs already and listened to it as often as possible and this is only a small number of people, compared the expected 180 million viewers, who never heard the songs before. But this is maybe a trend and a direction that really has chances, as the fans do really have a lot of experience and passion and the majority is following the ESC for a very long time.

About me: As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
