This year there are a lot of activities around the ESC in the host city. A special concert with former Danish ESC participants has been organized to bring the good old days back. The request for tickets was that high that there were even two nights planned.
The quite pricey (140 EUR) event offered free food and drinks throughout the evening, there were cocktails and Danish ice-cream for everybody – all very Danish with a lot of flags and a frenetic audience. The evening started with delicious food and after that the concert started.
Not all of the former Danish singers could come, so some artists have been replaced by other singers. The host of the evening was Jørgen de Mylius – he was the perfect host, as he hosted 11 Dansk Melodi Grand Prix’s and commented 19 ESC’s so far. He is a very well known TV personality.
There was a live band accompanying all the artists. The song highlights were Debbie Cameron (“Krøller Eller Ej”, 1981, 11th rank), Gry Johansen (“Kloden Drejer”, 1983, 17th rank), Kirsten & Søren (“Det' Lige Det”, 1983, 4th rank), Birthe Kjær (“Vi Maler Byen Rød”, 1989, 3rd rank), Lonnie Devantier (“Hallo Hallo”, 1990 8th rank), Kenny & Lotte (“Alt det som ingen ser”, 1992, 12th rank), The Olsen Brothers (“Smuk som et stjerneskud”, 2000, 1st rank), Søren Poppe (with Rollo & King “Der står et billed af dig på mit bord”, 2001, 2nd rank) and Jakob Sveistrup “Tænder på dig”, 2005, 9th rank).
The audience was mainly Danish crowd, the atmosphere was unique, after a few drinks the entire audience was singing along. After the songs the dance floor was opened and a band played Eurovision evergreens and you could see a lot of couple dancers.
Tusen Tak Danmark!

About me: As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
