It was the sixth and most important event in the Swedish Melodifestivalen the big final in Stockholm. Out of 32 entries, every week in each round two songs have been determined for the final; with a second chance show the last remaining participants have made the ten finalists.
The finalists were: Anton Ewald with “Natural” (18 points), Ellen Bendiktston with “Songbird” (61 points), Alcazar with “Blame it on the Disco” (110 points), Oscar Zia with “Yes we can” (53 points), Linus Svenning with “Bröder” (83 points), Helena Paparizou with “Survivor” (84 points), YOHIO with “To the end” (82 points), Sanna Nielsen with “Undo” (212 points), Panetoz with “Efter Skolsken” (33 points) and Ace Wilder with “Busy doin’ nothing” (210 points). The Swedish composer Fredrik Kempe had four songs in the final which is a truly success for him.
There has been an ABBA-theme in the interval act where Charlotte Perelli, Marie Bergman, Robin Stjernberg and Malena Ernman sang ABBA songs; this was a very touching moment.
Like last year there were 11 international juries and the Swedish televoting which was weighted 50/50. In the first part the international juries represented by spokesmen in Stockholm gave their highest points to Ace Wilder with 97 points, then Sanna Nielsen with 90 points and Alcazar with 62 points. Then the televoting points have been calculated in the correct point weighting, which was shown in a bar. This was really exciting, until the last announcement it was still unclear if the winner is Ace Wilder or Sanna Nielsen, at the end Sanna has won with a margin of 2 points. The song “Undo” is a power ballad, for Sanna it has been the 7th time in the Melodifestivalen and the first time for her to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest. Congratulations!
