Last night Switzerland and Finland made the final choice for Copenhagen. So we have two more songs by now to compete for the 59th Eurovision Song Contest in May.
In Switzerland there have been 6 participants, which have been chosen a long time ago out of video applications from all parts of Switzerland. In the final show the singers have been performing their candidate song as well as a cover song. This concept seemed to be a bit unusual, and some covers songs have been more impressive than the Eurovision choice. All performers have been shown former ESC winning entries. Emmelie de Forest showed up in the interval act and performed “Only teardrops” in front of an enthused audience.
At the end Sebalter and Yasmina Huntziger have been in the final choice, where Sebalter could convince with “Hunter of Stars”. The song is a bit unusual in the country style, but probably the best choice Switzerland could make. The song is melodic and has some whistle and violin elements, which make the song sound traditionally, a bit Irish though. Sebalter is coming from the Italian speaking part of Switzerland – Ticino.
