The famous ex-ABBA band members Björn Ulveaus and Benny Andersson have been mandated to compose the opening sequence for the Grand Final show on May 18th, reported by SVT. This is a kind of sensation, as ABBA does not exist anymore, ABBA has always been asked to perform again, but it has always been denied, due to the fact that a comeback would never be the same anymore. In 2004 ESC a video clip has been showed puppets looking like ABBA performing their songs and for a few seconds the band members could have been seen in that video.
This new piece of music called “We Write The Music” will also be arranged with Avicii, a Swedish DJ and music producer. This will be a historic milestone in the ESC to have at least two ex-ABBA members involved in a current Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden.
ABBA is one of the most popular pop bands, founded in 1972, sold more than 370 million records, it all ended in 1982. They got popular due to the ESC performance and victory “Waterloo” in 1974. The most successful songs were “Dancing Queen”, “Take A Chance On Me” and “SOS”. In 1999 a musical called “Mamma Mia” has celebrated a world premiere; in 2008 the movie has been produced, which did not show the story of ABBA, but taking all the music.
