The long expected German final for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest will take place tonight. This big event will be held in The TUI Arena in Hanover, Germany, on the Expo fair ground. The host of the night will be Anke Engelke, who is a very popular comedian in Germany. She also co-hosted the ESC in Düsseldorf 2011.
There is a new voting procedure tested. The votes will be counted by three parts: expert jury, televoting and radio stations choice with votes of the radio listeners, each part will be calculated in a 33% weight. In the expert jury there some familiar Eurovision faces like Mary Roos (ESC entrant in 1972 “Nur die Liebe lässt uns leben” and 1984 “Aufrecht gehn”), Peter Urban (German commentator since 2007), Roman Lob (last year’s singer for Germany “I am standing still”), furthermore Tim Bendzko (German singer “Wenn Worte meine Sprache wären”) and Anna Loos (singer and actor).
There are 12 acts tonight and there is a very interesting mix of all different styles of music: Electro, Pop, Rap, Ballad, Folk and even Gregorian sung by real priests. The German broadcaster is trying to do its best to make it modern and attractive, the aim is to establish a yearly event, many people would like to follow and be a part of it. Loreen will be a special guest of tonight’s show.
