Being the host country of the Eurovision Song Contest gives a little pressure choosing the right candidate singing on home ground. The very popular Melodifestivalen with enormous viewing figures is the most popular TV show in the Swedish television. Within four semi-finals with eight songs each, a second chance round - the fifth show – and the grand final with 10 songs this is a true TV marathon.
The quality of the first show which came from Karlskrona, southern Sweden, has put a high mark of entertainment. The hosts Gina Dirawi and Danny Saucedo did not only present the show, they also have been singing and dancing together with former ESC singer Lena Philippson. All in all this show has brought a broad variety of music, from pop to ballad, less Swedish schlager in a harmonic composition.
At the end there were two songs for grand final in Stockholm: David Lindgren with “Skyline” and YOHIO with “Heartbreak Hotel”. The other two qualifiers for the second chance show will be Cookies n’Beans with “Burning Flags” and Eric Gadd with “Vi kommer Aldrig Att Förlora”.
