Since last year the format of the Finnish selection process has received a makeover. The classical Finnish pre selection has been renamed into UMK – Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu – New Music Competition. This platform should inspire Finnish composers and singers to send in new music to revive the Finnish music market. The winner in this competition will automatically be the representative of Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest. This contest is open for all kinds of music styles. As it has been before, remember that Finland also sent Hard Rock songs to the Eurovision Song Contest.
