In this year’s allocation draw it has been determined in which of the two semi finals they countries will start. Due to the reason of arrival of delegations it has also been necessary to determine if the countries will start in the first or second part of each semi final. This show itself has been quite unspectacular without any introducing films or music like in former years. The even more exciting draw of the starting positions will take place in March, like every year.
Furthermore it has been drawn in which semi final the Big 5 countries included Sweden as a host country will have the right to vote. The right to vote in the semi final 1 have: Italy, Sweden and the United Kingdom; in semi final 2: France, Germany and Spain.
Because of a special wish of the Swedish TV and Israel, the allocation for Norway, Denmark and Israel has been allocated already. This has been approved by the EBU and the reference group. Therefore Denmark starts in semi final 1, Norway and Israel in semi final 2.
Here are the results of the draw taken out of five pots: semi final 1 (first half): Austria, Croatia, Estonia, Netherlands, Russia, Slovenia and Ukraine. Semi final 1 (second half): Belgium, Belarus, Cyprus, Ireland, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro and Serbia. Semi final 1 (first half): Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, FYR Macedonia, Malta and San Marino. Semi final 2 (second half): Albania, Armenia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Romania and Switzerland.
The most striking thing is all three Caucasian countries are in the semi final 2: Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia. And Italy can’t vote for their neighbours Malta and San Marino, as they are allocated in semi final 2, where Italy has no right to vote.
