No one else than Mr Ralph Siegel has written more songs for the Eurovision Song Contest. This year he is celebrating his 30th anniversary in the Eurovision business. His long lasting enthusiasm, support and evolvement has put him on a special throne. This week has been given a personal party among friends of the Eurovision Song Contest here in Baku, Azerbaijan. The party had the lovely charm of the 80’s with a video from all his successes, a guest stars were invited a children‘s choir and a Mugam group, playing traditional Azeri music.
Ralph Siegel’s greatest success was the German winning entry in 1982 “Ein bißchen Frieden” by Nicole. Beside of that he has written numerous and unforgettable songs for the contest mostly he worked together with the lyricist Bernd Meinunger. The hits were: “Dschinghis Khan” by Dschinghis Khan in 1979 (4th), “Theater” by Katja Ebstein in 1980 (2nd), “Papa Pingouin” by Sophie & Magaly in 1980 for Luxembourg (9th), “Johnny Blue” by Lena Valaitis in 1981 (2nd), “Lass die Sonne in Dein Herz” by Wind in 1987 (2nd), We’re giving a party” by Mekado in 1994 (3rd) and “Reise nach Jerusalem” in 1999 (3rd).
Beside of all critics and changing environments, Ralph has always shown motivation and he was never given up. He also composed songs for other countries like Luxembourg, Malta, Switzerland, Montenegro and this year for San Marino. Ralph Siegel has always shown his passion for music and in particular for the ESC like no other.
