The EBU press conference was mainly about the current issues about the sound and commentary problems. The most exciting topic was that there is a new algorithm when it comes to the voting in the grand final. In former years the running order of voting’s has been determined by a draw. The EBU firstly knows the results and they discuss the voting’s from the jury final to order this after a new algorithm introduced by a Swedish professor. This has been invented to bring more excitement in the voting procedure. The same thing is made in the Semi Finals, so the order of appearance is to make it as exciting as possible. So it’s not possible to predict the winner by the first votes.
Furthermore the new dates for the 57th ESC have been announced: 22nd May 2012 Semi Final 1, 24th May 2012 Semi Final 2 and 26th May 2012 Grand Final. All dates are preliminary and subject to change, depending on the demand of the host broadcaster 2012.
In the Semi Final 1, there have been around 16.500 people inside the arena. There are 17.000 – 18.000 people to be expected for the Semi Final 2 tonight. The Grand Final is already sold out, only a few tickets left, but there are 36.000 people inside the arena, the absolute maximum ever. In regards of the massive interest in the ESC, the future contests will probably not growing more than now. If a country with less financial resources is going to win, a victory would mean an inseparable situation. This is mainly meant for the amount of people in the arena as well as the journalists and fans.

About me: Due to the fact that my parents are musicians, I have a gained a great enthusiasm for music. Since 1979 my interest in the Eurovision Song Contest has grown enormously. My first ESC I joined was in Dublin 1995. Six years later I founded the website eurovisionlive.com in the year 2001. The most fascinating part for me is the original idea of the Eurovision Song Contest – the peaceful contest of the European countries. I am very happy that I have the chance to contribute my little part for the greatest music show in the world.
