For four participants it will be the second try to at the Eurovision Song Contest, and even two of them are winners already: Dana International from Israel and Lena from Germany. The third singer is Dino from Bosnia & Herzegovina who has made a respectable 7th rank with “Putnici” together with Beatrice in Jerusalem 1999 and Zdob di Zdub from Molodva, who made the debut for that country in 2005 with “Boonika bate toba” #(6). Dana International has won in Birmingham (1998) with “Diva” in one of the most exciting voting marathons; Malta had 165 points (#3), the United Kingdom 166 points (#2) and Israel 172 points (#1). Last year Lena has won for Germany with a difference of 76 points to the runner up Turkey. Returning to the ESC is nothing new; many singers have tried a second time. Unfortunately, some of the winners like CharlotteNilsson and Niamh Kavanagh even reached the final but failed: for Niamh from Ireland in 2010 only 23rd rank, and 18th rank for Charlotte from Sweden in 2008. It can always be risky to do it again, but on the other hand those singers have gained lots of experiences, with all the rehearsals, dealing with the press and nerviness. At least for Dana or Lena it will be a fall down, as there is only one first rank. At the end it does not matter if a song shapes up well or badly, it’s all about being there again, enjoying the international atmosphere and excitement. Let’s hope that there are more returners in the next years as well.

About me: Due to the fact that my parents are musicians, I have a gained a great enthusiasm for music. Since 1979 my interest in the Eurovision Song Contest has grown enormously. My first ESC I joined was in Dublin 1995. Six years later I founded the website eurovisionlive.com in the year 2001. The most fascinating part for me is the original idea of the Eurovision Song Contest – the peaceful contest of the European countries. I am very happy that I have the chance to contribute my little part for the greatest music show in the world.
