The officials of the EBU have visited the German host broadcaster NDR of the ESC 2011 in the headquarter Hamburg. Together they have announced that next year the Eurovision Song Contest will be held a week earlier as previously announced, due to a big sport event – the final of German soccer cup. The ESC final will be on May 14th and so accordingly the semi final 1 will be held on May 10th and semi final 2 on May 12th.
At the same time the NDR confirmed that Lena is going to defend her title “Eurovision winner”. Winning with the same singer the year after a victory has never happened. It’s even quite seldom that a there is a win on home ground, that has only happened in Spain in 1969, Israel in 1979, Ireland twice in 1994 and 1995.
The host city 2011 is still unknown and will probably be announced in September. So the broadcaster keeps on the excitement and let the fans preserve.
