After almost one month the EBU has revealed the last secrets of the voting procedure. As it’s commonly known, there is a split of 50% televoting and 50% jury voting in each Semi Final and in the Final. The big question is, how would the final result have changed, if there would only be jury voting or televoting as it used to be in the past? The new results show that for the Final, Germany would have been the winner in each case. With televoting only, Belgium would have dropped to place 14 and Israel to place 19. With a jury only voting, Belgium would have made place 2, Turkey only place 8, Greece would have not been in the Top 10. Serbia would have been 18th only and France 22nd.
The interesting topic from the Semi Finals is that only 10 countries do qualify and with different voting systems the result would have changed for some countries. In Semi Final 1 Finland would have been in with televoting and Bosnia & Herzegovina would have been out. There with a jury voting only, Estonia and Malta would have made it, and Belarus and Russia would have dropped out. Latvia would have come last in either procedures.
In Semi Final 2 Lithuania and Sweden would have made it with a televoting only procedure but Ireland and Israel would have failed, in the jury only procedure Sweden and Lithuania did not succeed. Switzerland and Slovenia did share the last ranks in both procedures. As you can see from the result there are slight differences between jury and televoting procedure, the outcome for a few countries would have been different. A mix of both procedures is probably the most secure way to spot out the most potential winner and hits from the Eurovision Song Contest.

About me: Due to the fact that my parents are musicians, I have a gained a great enthusiasm for music. Since 1979 my interest in the Eurovision Song Contest has grown enormously. My first ESC I joined was in Dublin 1995. Six years later I founded the website eurovisionlive.com in the year 2001. The most fascinating part for me is the original idea of the Eurovision Song Contest – the peaceful contest of the European countries. I am very happy that I have the chance to contribute my little part for the greatest music show in the world.
