The result of the first semi final from Belgrade showed that the gimmick song did not succeed and quality songs were more popular, maybe the time is over for trash songs. The qualified countries and their starting position in the final on Saturday are: Greece (21.), Romania (1.), Bosnia & Herzegovina (6.), Finland (8.), Russia (24.), Israel (7.), Azerbaijan (20.), Armenia (5.), Poland (10.) and Norway (25). The importance of the running order should not be underestimated, the best starting positions are the high ones.
Of course, if there are winners on the one hand, there are also losers on the other hand. Bad luck for those countries which haven't qualified and have to go home. The decision was not easy, the result only represents the opinion of the TV spectators and one jury. Which country the jury has chosen will be revealed after the result of the final night. Once again this evening showed that it's impossible to predict the result exactly, but furthermore that the atmosphere and message of an entry is most important. Congratulations to all winners!
Chief Editor of eurovisionlive.com
About me: Due to the fact that my parents are musicians, I have a gained a great enthusiasm for music. Since 1979 my interest in the Eurovision Song Contest has grown enormously. My first ESC I joined was in Dublin 1995. Six years later I founded the website eurovisionlive.com in the year 2001. The most fascinating part for me is the original idea of the Eurovision Song Contest – the peaceful contest of the European countries. I am very happy that I have the chance to contribute my little part for the greatest music show in the world.
