This special event is a very important one, because it’s to determine in which of the two Semi Finals the countries are allocated to. Among the 41 participating countries this year there the “Big5” countries France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom and the host country the Netherlands which are already set for the Grand Final on May 16th.
The remaining 35 countries are allocated to either Semi Final 1 on May 12th or Semi Final 2 on May 14th. This also means that the delegation of the countries which are allocated to the Semi Final 1 have to arrive in Rotterdam two days earlier, due to the rehearsal schedule.
Normally this allocation draw is also giving a first impression of the theme and artwork of the ESC, introduction videos will be shown and the EBU Executive supervisor together with the organization team, the mayor of Rotterdam will be around.
The show will be broadcasted live on YouTube on Monday, 28th January 16.00 CET.

About me: Due to the fact that my parents are musicians, I have a gained a great enthusiasm for music. Since 1979 my interest in the Eurovision Song Contest has grown enormously. My first ESC I joined was in Dublin 1995. Six years later I founded the website eurovisionlive.com in the year 2001. The most fascinating part for me is the original idea of the Eurovision Song Contest – the peaceful contest of the European countries. I am very happy that I have the chance to contribute my little part for the greatest music show in the world.
