The Italian San Remo Festival had it’s big night on Saturday with the declaration of the winner of the popular music festival. The winner this year is the young singer Mahmood with the contemporary song “Soldi” which means “Money”.
This was a full week of Italian music every night until late. The Grand Final on Saturday was a marathon with 24 contestants, many reprises and commercial blocks, which was sometimes hard to follow. The Super Final took place at 1 o’clock in the morning with a lot of murmuring in the Ariston Theatre as the audience was obviously not happy with the results.
Then the televoters had another chance to vote for their favourite. Only the tough followers could witness the winners announcement at 1:38 in the morning.
The winner of the San Remo Festival is now representing Italy in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest.
This song appears a lot better in the video clip than with orchestra. Judge yourself:

About me: As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
