In an online press conference with the German responsible persons for the German Eurovision act Christoph Pellander (Head of Delegation) and Thomas Schreiber (Head of Entertainment NDR) the official date for the German national final has been revealed: Friday, 22nd February 2019 in the studios of Adlershof, Berlin.
There will be seven competing acts in the German national final. The majority of the songs have extra been composed for the Eurovision Song Contest, one has been submitted without the intention of competing. All the acts have been going through a long selection process, where an international and national jury have been involved.
The German broadcaster NDR has been pointing out that the 4th place with Michael Schulte from last year made them very proud and happy and the goal is definitely to reach the Top 10 in Tel Aviv this year.
The song won’t be published before the day of the national final.
These are the seven hopefuls for Germany:

Gregor Hägele – “Let Me Go” (Gregor Hägele, Jonas Shandel, David Jürgens and Tamara Olorga)
Sisters – “Sister“ – (Laurell Barker, Marine Kaltenbacher, Tom Oehler and Thomas Stengaard)
Lilly Among Clouds - “Surprise” (Elisabeth Brüchner, music: Elisabeth Brüchner and Udo Rinklin)
Makeda – “The Day I Loved You Most “ (Makeda, Tim Uhlenbrock, Kelvin Jones and Kristine Bogan)
