After a long period of decision making the final choice have felt to Tel Aviv. Eilat at the Red Sea has been out of the race since the end of August. There was a hard battle between the capital Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The Israeli broadcaster KAN and the EBU had to find the perfect location with the best overall setup. Tele Aviv with about 400.000 inhabitants is certainly the best choice for a host city of the ESC due its open and liberate lifestyle.
EBU is expecting guarantees for security for freedom and movement for each individual from the Prime Minister.
The venue for the 64th Eurovision Song Contest will be the EXPO Tel Aviv (International Convention Center), which is 2 km away from the Mediterranean Sea.
The dates for the live shows are set now:
May 14 – Semi Final 1
May 16 – Semi Final 2
May 18 – Grand Final 2019
Israel has won the Eurovision Song Contest for four times 1978, 1979, 1998 and 2018. But Israel hosted the ESC only two times in 1979 and 1999. In 1980 Israel was not able to host the ESC two years in a row , so The Netherlands took over.

About me: As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
