A fairytale came true for 1993 born Netta Barzilai. After winning the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest, she has been celebrated as a hero in her home country already. Since Dana International brought the crown to Israel 20 years ago, Netta brought the fourth victory for Israel with a phenomenal amount of 529 points.
On her way back to her home country Netta even sang though the airplane’s communication system. Netta uttered to the Haaretz newspaper: "This is a great moment for me, for the delegation and for the country. I am happy that we managed to create a reason for joy in a country that does not have a lot of reasons to celebrate. We are all hoarse, we celebrated all night and we didn’t sleep."
At the first night at home in Tel Aviv she has been welcomed by an ecstatic crowd of over 20.000 people on the Rabin Square, where she performed her winning entry “Toy” twice. Even the city hall displayed “Toy” with the illumination.
Let’s hope Netta’s journey goes further and she will publish more songs.

About me: Due to the fact that my parents are musicians, I have a gained a great enthusiasm for music. Since 1979 my interest in the Eurovision Song Contest has grown enormously. My first ESC I joined was in Dublin 1995. Six years later I founded the website eurovisionlive.com in the year 2001. The most fascinating part for me is the original idea of the Eurovision Song Contest – the peaceful contest of the European countries. I am very happy that I have the chance to contribute my little part for the greatest music show in the world.
