Portugal has shown a great live show for the Semi Final 1 from the Altice Arena in Lisbon. The four hosts had their own humour which might appeared a bit simulated. Therefore lovely images of the nicest parts of Portugal have been shown in the postcards. That will definitely attract many TV viewers to travel to Portugal.
The atmosphere in the arena was terrific and boosted the artists with applause and singing. For some of the artists it was the performance of their life.
There were no technical problems during the show, it was a smooth and entertaining evening of music. The announcement of the qualifiers for the Grand Final on Saturday was exciting and quick. It all started with Austria, which was named first. This was probably a great surprise for many, as Austria was not a clear favourite. Also Albania was named, it was the first qualification for Albania since 2015 and well deserved. For the two love songs from Lithuania and Ireland, the dream came true and proofed that ballads are highly appreciated.
Also good for Saara Aalto from Finland, for her a dream will come true now. Many did not see her in the final, but she has given a brilliant performance and her voice was strong and clear.
And the big favourites Israel, Cyprus, Estonia, Czech Republic and Bulgaria came through as expected. So from now on everything will be focussed on Semi Final 2.

My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
