As always – the Eurovision Song Contest has its surprises. Even if many believe that countries always qualify for the final, they might be wrong. This is the first year in ESC history, that both Azerbaijan and Armenia did not make into the Grand Final. Also Greece is unlucky this year, which is also known for a “guaranteed finalist” over the years. The impact of the juries should not be underestimated, as the so called “jury final” in the night before is very important.
In the upcoming press conference the winners are going to pick their part of the position in the Grand Final, either first or second half. As the most of the Big 5 countries, beside of Italy will perform in the first half, there will be more spots in the more popular second half.
Therefore other countries were lucky to qualify and those are:
