The Norwegian national final did not bring anybody new to the 2018 ESC in Lisbon. Therefore, the Norwegians chose the former ESC winner Alexander Rybak to represent Norway again. With the song "That’s how you write a song" Alexander could convince the Norwegian televoters with his entry. There has also been an international jury without any effect in the result, just to show the international taste. The Eastern European juries have mainly voted vor Alexander Rybak, as he is still very popular there, he has Belorussian roots.
The hot favourite has been Rebecca with her song "Who We Are", she receive the highest votes of the Scandinavian juries and she also became 2nd at the end. It will be interesting to see, how Alexander Rybak will do in Lisbon. From the past we know that it is no guarantee anymore, if somebody has won the ESC before, like Dana International, who did not pass the semi final in Düsseldorf.

About me: As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
