This year Portugal is the host country of the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest. And it’s the first time ever that Portugal has the honour to host the biggest live TV show in the world. After the fulminant victory of Salavdor Sobral last year in Kiev, the world is looking at Lisbon in May. The Portuguese broadcaster RTP has organized a lavish national final with two semi finals. It seems that this new situation has inspired the Portuguese music industry to show it’s enthusiasm to produce an outstanding host entry for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon.
The winner of the Festival da Canção 2018 is Claudia Pascoral with the song “O Jardim” – which means “The Garden”. Claudia seemed to be overwhelmed by the support of the audience and competitors during her encore. It will be very interesting how this unusual and modern entry will do in the ESC, even if there a strong similarities in the melody to the Icelandic song “Viðrar vel til loftárása” from Sigur Ros.

About me: As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
