On Sunday, April 30th the rehearsals are going to begin. It seems that everything in Kiev is prepared for all the 42 delegations, 2000 journalists and even more fans arriving in the Ukrainian capital. There will be a Eurovision village for all visitors in the very heart of Kiev, and there is a great chance to meet the Eurovision singers of 2017.
The rehearsals begin with the first nine entries of the Semi Final 1, the next day the other nine entries will have their first stage rehearsals. After each rehearsal (30 minutes) and visiting the viewing room to check the performance by the delegations, there will be a 20 minutes “meet & greet” with the press and fans. And so it’s going on with the candidates of the Semi Final 2. During the first four days, the arena will not be open for the press, due to bad experiences from the past, as videos of the rehearsals have been directly uploaded in the internet. On Thursday, the rehearsal time for each participant is only 20 minutes, but there will be a real press conference of 20 minutes each. And from Friday onward the countries of the Big 5 + host country will also be included.
On Sunday, May 7th the red carpet and the opening ceremony will take place. The red carpet will take place in Mariinsky Park in front of the castle like in 2005. The official opening ceremony will be held in the Euroclub.
In the second week everything will be concentrated on the whole shows, so the entire three shows will be rehearsed three times until the live broadcast from the intro to the interval act and the voting procedure. The first rehearsal will be open for the press, the others are being sold to the public.

About me: As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
