The Swiss broadcaster SRF has made a nice show to determine the Swiss representative for Kiev. The entire show has been quite entertaining and there were a lot of memories being cultivated how Switzerland has shaped up in the ESC history.
The six contestants have all been chosen by a Swiss expert team. At the end there were quite good singers being found among the contestants, but there was an obvious lack of good or outreagous compositions. The lucky winner was Timebelle with the song “Apollo”. This entry is going to represent Switzerland in Kiev in the Semi Final 2.
It’s quite interesting to see that such an established ESC country, which won two times is going to have a national pre decision of such an average and also disappointing quality. Compared to other smaller countries like Estonia, Switzerland does not show enough enthusiasm and courage to dare something. All singers have been singing well, but what should do a good singer with an ordinary song? Even the deserved winner Timebelle would have more chances with a better composition. The big question is, does Switzerland take the ESC seriously enough? Do they really want to win it again? With such a choice of average songs, no hit or win can be reached. When Switzerland is ending up terribly then the questions will arouse, why they did not provide any better songs. Unfortunately, none of the songs had the power of “Euphoria” or “Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi”.
