The Finnish broadcaster YLE has produced and entertaining evening with a lot of excitement and very different songs, from typical ESC songs to ballads and some crazy stuff. At the end the international juries as well as the Finnish televoters have shared their common favourite: Norma John with the song “Blackbird”. Among the ten contestants, Norma Johns had the most sophisticated and ambitious song of the night. “Blackbird” is a dark ballad with a strong melody and message and has been standing out from the others. At the end this entry could win with a big margin. And this song could also do very well in Kiev as well.
The host of the UMK show Krista Siegfrids, who has already been representing Finland in 2013 with “Marry Me” (24th place in Malmö 2013) has made the evening very special and brought a lot of glamour and show elements into the UMK. She will also participate in the Swedish Melodifestivalen again.

About me: As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
