Information about the singer

In 1960 Norway had it’s debut in the Eurovision Song Contest. For a quite long time Norway was the leading 0-points candidate in the contest. This has changed dramatically in the last 25 years. Norway has already won twice with “La det swinge” by the Bobbysocks in 1985 and with “Nocturne” by Secret Garden in 1995. Beside of these number one entries, Norway has always send great compositions to Eurovision. The Scandinavian countries do share a very high interest in the Eurovision Song Contest and so it’s no wonder that many popular artists have tried to represent their country in the Eurovision Song Contest or even in the Scandinavian pre selections to get popular in these markets.

Many people believe that this year Norway might be winning again. In the Norwegian pre decision “Melodi Grand Prix”, Alexander Rybak has inflamed the Oslo Spectrum with his extraordinary performance of the song “Fairytale”. The audience was delighted and giving standing ovations in the Norwegian final. This is a Norwegian entry the Norwegians have dreamed of for a long time: a powerful song, rhythmic, original and catchy with a stunning performance by Alexander and his talented background dancers. This intoxicating song has many highlights and sounds very Norwegian. There is dance, there is folklore and power. A violin has already brought a victory for Norway, so the chances are relatively high to bring the crown back to the land of the midnight sun.
Alexander Rybak is playing his violin with such a passion that all viewers – not only the Scandinavians - will be attracted by this entry. The media in Russia has already focussed on Alexander Rybak enormously due to his Belorussian roots and he will be attending several Russian TV shows.
This entry will start as an absolute favorite in Moscow. But even though Norway has to pass the semi final first, and many good and high rated songs in the past did not pass the semi finals, even if the songs were rated very high.
