Information about the singer
No other country won the contest more often than Ireland. Seven times (!) the Irish could convince Europe with their good taste of music. If you look back in history you will see that all winners were ballads only. Somehow the Irish ballad has proofed as success for the country. Recently more competitors from Eastern Europe have been showing up and that's why the quiet songs do not stand out anymore. Normally we would not notice last years' shame of the puberty-duo, but the like-to-be "disco-song" with Riverdance-influences belongs without any doubts to the worst songs ever in Eurovision.
That's why RTE has chosen something well-tried - a ballad! The male singer Brian Kennedy is one of the most appreciated singers in Ireland. He has also be singing in "Riverdance on Broadway" and surprisingly together with Bill Clinton and furthermore achieved the award "Best Irish Male Artist". As you can see there is a highly glorified singer this year. The Song "Every Song is a cry for Love" is a quiet one, but beautifully made and sung - finally!
