Information about the singer
What would the Eurovision be without "Chypre, douze points"? It is hard to imagine the Song Contest without beautiful Cyprus. Without it would be like Eurovision without scoreboard. The famous "Twelve Points" Cyprus mostly received from its neighbour Greece. But not last year. Lisa Andreas could reach one of the top positions with her song "Stronger every minute". A great song - Babra Streisand couldn't have sing it in a better way.
Cyprus' high quality entries were often left unrecognised by the international public - maybe because their sound was a bit too traditional Greek. To avoid this, Cyprus started to chose more contemporary pop-songs to the final over the recent years.
Songs like "To Katalava Arga" by Lisa Vishy (Gothenburg 1985), "Teriazoume" by Evridiki (Malmö 1992) or "Monogiamas" sung by Constantinos in Oslo 1996 belong to the all time favourites.
This year Constantinos is going to represent his country for the third time. The song "Ela ela" strongly reminds us to last years Greek entry "Shake it" by Sakis, who came 3rd. The good result is obviously not reached only by his singing qualities, even more due to his physical attraction. The big question now is, is Constantinos able to top that? Probably not! You can expect a mediterranean song with folkloristic elements. Nothing new. Cyprus is directly qualified for the big final. But they need a very good hand to put this entry in one of the top ten positions.
