Information about the singer

Austria has never been really lucky at the Eurovision Song Contest. Even if there have been many attempts to bring fresh sounds to Europe. Especially in recent years Austria tried to compete with new experiements like in Riga 2003 with Alf Poier "Weil der Mensch zählt" and "All to you" by the Rounder Girls. The only victory for Austria was made by Udo Jürgens with his ballad "Merci Cherié" in 1966.

This year there is a really interesting song from Austria. First starting position in the semifinal - many people will probably get the impression having chosen the wrong TV-channel. The first impression sounds like real Austrian Folkmusic with accoredeon. But there is more to come - so there is no reason to turn the TV off. The song "Y Asi" by the Global Kryner may be the surprise of the evening - it's a great latin-swing-song. Originality has always been highly awarded at the Grand Prix and the chances to get a better place are quite realistic.
