Information about the singer

Malta has done quite well in the past years. Since 1971 Malta has taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest - only between 1976 and 1990 the country didn't participate. English is their official second language - so before the language barrier has fallen they had a certain advantage compared to other countries. The most successful songs were "7th Wonder" sung by Ira Losco (Tallinn 2002) where they became 2nd, "The One That I Love" by Chiara (Birmingham 1998 - 3rd place) or "Little Child" sung by Mary Spiteri which also became 3rd in Malmö 1992.
Last year Julie and Luwig could reach a good position with their opera-a-like song "On again off again". Due to this Malta has been qualified directly for the big final in Kiev.
This year Chiara is going to represent her country a second time. She composed the song "Angel" by herself. Bad tounges say that she should better not have done that! This sticky ballad is not comparable at all with her song in 1998 "The one that I love". We ask us, how and why did Malta chose such a boring song for Eurovision? We have no answer. Maybe it's time for a strong espresso.
