Information about the singer

There are so many new countries participating in this years Contest that you might think the Ukraine has been a member of the Eurovision family for ages. But that's wrong: they only joined in last year in Riga with Oleksander's "Hasta La Vista" which unfortunately only received 30 points altogether. So this year the Ukraine has to make its way through the qualifying round first, competing against 21 other countries.

Again there was no national final in the Ukraine. Their national TV-station NTU nominated singer Rusiana Lyzhichko internally to represent the country in Istanbul with the song "Dikiye Tantsy" ("Wild Dancers"). The attractive singer Rusiana has released several albums, starred in a musical and writes also her own music. She also creates her own choreography on stage. The song is extravagant and unusual - it could turn out to be a big surprise in Istanbul!
