Information about the singer

Sweden is one of the most successful and dedicated participating countries in the Eurovision Song Contest. Almost magically the contest attracts millions of Swedes - so from Malmö to Jokkmokk they're stuck to their TV screens, excitedly waiting to find out how well their country will do every year… and also how many points they will be awarded by their neighbouring countries, Norway and Denmark! Since ABBA showed the world in 1974 how well Swedish pop music is able to do, they have always done very well indeed. Their music being melodic, catchy and with the brand name "Made in Sweden" attached to it - with lots of help from bands like Ace Of Base, Roxette, Alcazar and Army Of Lovers. Sweden has won the Eurovision four times already - but besides the winning songs there were unforgettable numbers like "April April" by Lill Babs (Cannes 1961), "Härliga Sommerdag" by Family Four (Edinburgh 1972) and the notoriously confusing (at least for English speaking people) song called "Bra vibratoner" (which only means "Good Vibrations" despite what many people thought it might have meant…) sung by Kikki Danielson in Gothenburg 1985.

The Swedish TV-station SVT has put up one of the most extravagant national finals with many well-known Swedish singers participating. The exciting final round was won by Lena Philipsson with her song called "Det gör ont" ("It Hurts"). Lena, 38 years old, has already participated several times in the Swedish national finals. Her greatest hit was a song called "Om Igen". With her entry this year the Swedes are guaranteed a top spot position. The song is great, it is last in the starting order, it comes with a great professional stage performance and Lena is looking her best! Here's to Sweden on the top again - 12 points!
