Information about the singer

Estonia has proven very well over the past years how close the country's musical taste is to Europe. Their contributions have always been modern and melodic - hits like "Once In A Lifetime" sung by Ines in 2000 or "Runaway" by Sahlene in 2002 have not been forgotten easily. No question, Estonia always did very well and always made it to the Final automatically. Unfortunately to everybody's surprise last years entry "Eighties Coming Back" by the group Rufus only made it into the lower third of last years ranking - due to this Estonia has to qualify for the Grand Final on Saturday first.

The question is, will it be that easy for them this year? For the first time in Estonia's Eurovision history TV spectatiors were given the chance to vote for their favourite song via Televoting. There were huge problems with the results as not all calls were able to be counted correctly. There were 10 participants and the Group Neiokoso clearly won the competition with the song "Tii" although Maarja, who represented Estonia well in 1996 and 1997 also was amongst the competitiors.

The group is singing in "Voru", a language spoken in the southern part of Estonia - but maybe there will be an English version to be presented to the international audience in Istanbul. We are not certain whether Estonia will do well with this rather extravagant song. Usually the participating countries try sending in modern songs to the competition, which can be turned into hits internationally, but we're not sure whether Estonia will achieve that with this song this year.
