| The press conference of the winning country: Estonia! Tanel and David are very happy and can’t realize that they really won the contest. The Danes are happy, too – the got second. |
| The Estonians can’t believe it, the voting-procedure was like a crime edited by Agatha Christie. The first time in the Eurovision history a country from Eastern Europe has won the contest (beside of Yugoslavia 1989).
|
| Almost nobody expected this result. In the betting Estonia was always in the middle-field. Estonia got the highest vote of 12 points exactly nine times! |
| The presenter Natasja Crone also enjoyed the After-show-reception. She was criticized a lot about her semi-funny and unsuitable moderation.
|
| This is Lys Assia – she won the first Eurovision Song Contest in history with “Refrain” for and in Switzerland 1956. |
| Why does Johnny Logan looks so terrible tonight? He wasn’t on stage today?!
|
| That’s Aqua, who brought an inferno in the Parken. Now they really look cultivated. |
| Even if the Estonians were happy, the Danes didn’t want the Estonians to win.
|
| If the song “Everybody” is going to be popular in the international charts will show the next weeks. So sad that Greece or Slovenia didn’t win – they really deserved it and would have a great success in Europe. |
| European Party People! Eurovision was always worth to watch, especially because of the shrill and crazy people.
|
| Nikki French – the UK singer from Stockholm 2000 “Don’t play that song again” – on the After-Show-Reception. She was the fairy of the party, but her song wasn’t played at all. |
| The bitter end of a party!

 |
| A cosy and warm summer evening in Copenhagen, but lots of streets were closed, a big traffic jam was caused - thousands of Danes wandered to the Parken Arena. Tonight there was the big dress-rehearsal-night. One day before the live-transmission. The main problem today was getting in the arena before 8 o’clock, because after that nobody was allowed to enter! But who cares – it’s just the dress-rehearsal! It was still possible to buy tickets from the black market. The prices were quite high – 215 € for one ticket, just for watching the songs, there was no voting procedure, so the money was just for one and a half hours. After entering the arena, every Eurovision-lover will have got shock. I didn’t look like Eurovision, it still had the atmosphere of a football-stadium! “La ola waves” were making the round, but most visitors were running like crazy chicken through the walking area and drinking beer – like on the “Oktoberfest” in Munich.
The music was matter of secondary importance with the effect of a high restlessness. Normally the Scandinavians are highly motivated and enthusiastic concerning Eurovision, but the applause was somehow weak all the time. Only Sweden, Slovenia and Denmark got a big applause. For all the TV-spectators who are expecting a great Eurovision evening like every year we have to disappoint them right now! A lot of things are different. After the Eurovision anthem there is now introduction of Denmark or something like this (Ireland always did a very good job! And we loved the opening in Stockholm last year!), the Olsen Brothers are going to start immediately after that. The presenters with their rhymes aren’t funny at all, they aren’t well dressed, they are just foolish. We can just hope that they will change the way of presentation totally for Saturday night. You will never see the logo, the indicator-board looks like taken from a football-match: without flags only green and white.
Aqua will sing in the iterval-act. The whole frame of this Eurovision is different, worse than ever before! Even the music is good and the postcards before each country. The Danish TV didn’t care about the good old Eurovision tradition – why? We thought the Danes love the Eurovision, but what’s that? They just mention all the time the big size of the Parken, but bigger is not better in this case. Where are all the innovations of last year in Stockholm? The Swedes really made a wonderful show which really touched the TV-spectators – the show is made with love to the detail. The camera positions this year are not well chosen. The 1983 Eurovision in Munich was even more modern and professional and Marlene Charell had a lot more style. Another disadvantage this year is that the very good songs are all in the second half of the show, the slower and more boring song are in the beginning, this may have the effect that the non-Eurovision-lovers will turn their TV off, before the good songs are presented.
The motto for this year should not be “Good evening Europe”, but “Good bye Europe”. The arena is really not suitable for such an event, which lives from the good atmosphere. So sad Denmark! |

| Michelle is nearly perfect today, beside of some technical problems. Of course she is very nervous about Saturday. |
| The Danish singers came out of the Parken and gave a little opportunity for a photo-shooting. The whole Denmark stands behind their Danish song “Never Ever Let You Go” and the Danes in the Parken will give them a phenomenal applause to support them. The Danes have a big advantage this year – they have the last start-position: number 23!
|
| These two attractive ladies were found on the Croatian party: Vanna from Croatia and her competitor Nusa from Slovenia. In a Copenhagen cellar-bar they were celebrating themselves and brought Mediterranean atmosphere into the cold north. |
| Beside of the culinary specialties from south-eastern Europe, Vanna sang her song “The strings of my heart” and received a warm applause by the guests. Probably the best party in this years Eurovision Song Contest.
|
Wednesday 9th May 2001
| The Norwegian rehearsal with the singer Haldor. After long discussions DR has brought the flags back again. |
| At the German embassy in Copenhagen Michelle meet the German ambassador Johann Dreher.
|
| Michelle received the Austrian “Amadeus Award” for the best female solo-singing. |
| The Olsen Brothers were the special guests on the German reception singing “Michelle” from the Beatles. Michelle was obviously touched.
|
| Interview after interview, Michelle seems to be very popular, but she is used this kind of stress – she is professional. |
| Out pretty Lindsay was happy about the German specialties.
|
| The Olsen Brothers will be the special-guest who will sing the intro to welcome all TV-spectators with their new song. |
| Cocktail-party in the Tivoli! The singers and fellows are already celebrating the Eurovision.
|
| The Israeli Tal meets the Spaniard Dave. Eurovision brings all nations together. |
| The good old Johnny Logan is obviously nervous before his private concert in Copenhagen.
|
| The Norwegian reception in the Park Café: Johnny sang his new songs as well as “Hold me now” and “What’s another year” in a totally new and modern version. |
| But Lindsay does not please everyone – this press-material was found in a litter-box!
|
Tuesday 8th May 2001
| Out German singer at the press conference in the Parken Arena. |
| Questions and answers. On the left hand there is Mr Meier-Beer, the head of the German delegation.
|
| The Spanish singer David has good reasons to smile, the rehearsals went perfectly. |
| Dancing and singing are the main passions of the vivacious Spaniard.
|
| The Turkish singer Sedat enjoys the Slovenian reception. |
| The most popular background-singer of Eurovision is Fernanda from Portugal, she participated more often than Johnny Logan! She is Eurovision-addicted!
|
Monday 7th May 2001
| Michelle and Michelle at the Copenhagen Town Hall. Germany meets The Netherlands surrounded by journalists and camera-teams. Our German Michelle already had her first adventure – her dress got lost at the Copenhagen Airport. Good heavens they found it. |
| One of a few moments Michelle is among the crowd.
|
| Peter Urban – the German voice on Saturday night for the German TV-spectators. |
| The Danish singer Signe is happy about the positive reaction of the media.
|
| One of the Olsen Brothers – the winner from Stockholm 2000. |
| Cool glasses of the Icelandic group “Two Tricky”.
|
| One has a heart for the Eurovision: the Norwegian singer Haldor in the Copenhagen Town hall. |
| Erica Jennings from Ireland, who is singing for Lithuania in Denmark. And indeed: she has got style!!
|
| Are theses the strings of her heart? It’s Vanna from Croatia in the Euroclub. |
| The huge stage during the rehearsals. On Saturday night 200 million people from all over the world will stare on this stage. |
| The Icelandic rehearsal – the illuminated stage is gorgeous! Even if the sound is not perfect yet – DR is working hard on it. The stage is that big that someone could think that there is going to be held a big rock concert. Until now the producers don’t know if there are standing-places.
|
| A big mobile stair is going through the stage. The illumination with laser and spots will give an exciting look. |
Sunday 6th May 2001
| This is the Parken Arena – a soccer stadium, in which 38.000 spectators can have a seat on Saturday night to watch the great show of the Eurovision Song Contest. The arena will be recovered by a roof especially for this occasion. What kind of atmosphere will be in it on Saturday is beyond our imagination, yet. The Danes are absolutely fascinated by the contest – this is the top event in Denmark! |
| The stage’s size is almost 250m²! The will be a 4.5 million-watt-system which is 5 times bigger than the biggest rock-concerts from Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson or the Rolling Stones! There will be 20 cameras, 5 cranes and 200 loudspeaker. Just to see the relations, there will be 35.000 hotdogs and 52.000 l beer available for the audience!
